While concurrently embracing and subverting fairy tales, the irreverent Shrek also manages to tweak Disney's nose, present an ethical message to children, and supply viewers with a funny, fast-paced ride. This is the first DreamWorks Animation movie to be launched in May and distributed by Universal Pictures. The track "Welcome to Duloc" was based on the Disney World theme song "It's a small world".
DreamWorks later re-casted Mike Myers to voice Shrek, who then determined to re-record his traces in a Scottish accent. This can be the only film to not have Shrek with completely different clothes as on the opposite motion pictures he has different ones excluding his Human Version and retains the same clothes during the movie. The only movie of the series not to be launched the identical year as one other DreamWorks Animation movie outdoors of the franchise.
