After escaping Rumpelstiltskin's palace with Donkey, he tries to show to the mule that he is his friend and sings his favorite music, only for Donkey to try to run away. After discovering that he still had his daughter Felicia's doll, he's left crying, one thing which ogres not often ever do. Once Donkey is abducted again, Shrek is ready to stumble onto an entire colony of ogres where he meets Fiona nevertheless she is literally repulsed by his presence and is simply centered on defeating Rumpelstiltskin and his empire.
In the musical, it's revealed that on his seventh birthday, Shrek was despatched away by his parents as an outcome of it was an ogre tradition. He is seen touring alone, both being screamed at or teased by passers-by. The solely time he receives a pleasing greeting is a wave from a younger Fiona, who's promptly led away by her mother and father. Shrek and Fiona kiss, breaking her curse, but permanently turning her into an ogre. Fiona is still unsure about herself, but Shrek assures Fiona he still thinks she is beautiful, and they get married. The first film ends with Shrek and Fiona's wedding ceremony and going off in an onion carriage on their method to their honeymoon.
