For a lot of the story, Tarzan and his human friends imagine he's the offspring of a human father and an ape mother. There's extra lurid suggestion than explicit element, as Tarzan falls exhausting for Jane however realizes that what works in the ape world won't work together with her. When they're alone together in the jungle, Jane's afraid of his intentions, but he provides her his dagger to protect herself and sleeps outdoors their shelter. The Johnny Weissmuller movies are filled with scenes of Tarzan calling for hordes of jungle beasts to charge white hunters and whatever enemy is on the horizon destroying his jungle paradise. In the books, the one scene with an animal cost is when Tarzan persuades a baboon king to ship his horde of baboons to attack his enemies.
